I've loved books for as long as I've been able to read, it seemed inevitable that I'd end up doing something with book arts.
I started bookbinding as a kid in Connecticut, using home made tools and a spoon as a makeshift bone folder. When I was about 14 years old, I met master bookbinder Arno Werner, whose daughter worked with my mother. He gave me my first bone folder, but his only advice to me was not to become a bookbinder because it was no way to make a living! Although I took his advice and ended up working as a software engineer, I remained interested in book arts, and kept binding as a hobby.
From 2002 to 2003, I took time off work and attended the first year of the bookbinding program at the North Bennet Street School.
Since moving to Poulsbo, I've attended several workshops at the Print and Bookarts studio at BARN, including bone tool making with Jim Croft.
My very small studio is located in scenic Poulsbo, Washington, a quiet and small town about an hour west of Seattle.
